Thomas Sweeney Portfolio

Every project is an opportunity to tell a story that informs, connects, and inspires.

Crafting stories through precision, teamwork, and creativity.

Hi, I’m Thomas Sweeney, a Telecommunications graduate from Penn State University passionate about capturing peoples stories and creative media.

I’ve worked as a Studio Producer/Director for The Centre County Report, Penn State Network Television, and CommAgency, gaining hands-on experience in directing, technical directing, and camera operation. Whether I’m calling shots in the control room or piecing together stories in post-production, I love the process of making creative ideas come to life.

Through my experiences in live television, video marketing, and digital media, I’ve realized that great content is about more than just visuals. It’s about connecting with people and telling stories that matter. Whether I’m directing a live broadcast, creating a marketing video, or producing content for social media, I want my work to leave a lasting impression and help organizations connect with their audiences.

I believe the best stories don’t just inform people. They inspire them.

  • There’s no better classroom than a live broadcast. Working on THON’s 46 Live taught me what it really means to stay focused when every second counts. Beyond the technical demands, THON reinforced the importance of storytelling. Every interview, performance, and fundraising update represented families whose stories deserved to be shared with authenticity and care. That perspective continues to shape the way I approach every project I create.

Chaos with Purpose

Things always go wrong during live TV. A mic cuts out, a graphic freezes, or a camera loses connection. That’s where teamwork and composure matter most. I learned that leadership in production isn’t about shouting orders. It’s important to stay calm, communicate clearly, and trust your team.

Finding the Flow

When the show runs smoothly, it feels like everything clicks. You hit transitions perfectly, the cameras capture the right emotion, and you can feel the energy from the crowd through the monitors. That’s the magic of live production — storytelling in its rawest, most human form.
